Thirty Years Onward. From Humble Beginings. 1984 - 2014

What started as an idea shared among a small group of individuals grew into a commitment from the then C.M.H.C. resulting in Wellington Square Cooperative Homes being incorporated on December 20, 1982 and a 10-member board of directors being elected on 5 January 1983.

Of the 11 construction sites in the Burlington area that were considered, the Plains Road site was eventually selected as it could hold between 80 and 100 units and by late January 1984 the foundations and frames were well under way, and 53 applications had had been received and processed.

On the 13 May, a time capsule containing copies of the articles of incorporation, by-laws and policies, a letter from the then Mayor of Burlington and photographs of the site were buried in the foundation.

The first family moved in on 23 July 1984.
